Interpol's formation dates back to 1997, when New York University
students Greg Drudy and Daniel Kessler decided to form a band. Kessler later met Carlos Dengler in a philosophy class, and
reunited with Paul Banks a short time later in the East Village. The quartet started writing songs and playing gigs throughout
New York City, but they had yet to decide on a name. Eventually, they decided on Interpol, and their growing fan base was
excited to learn that the group finally had a name. While they gigged relentlessly throughout NYC, the band also self-released
several EPs, earning so much attention and recognition during this time that Matador Records signed them in 2002.
very first record, Turn On the Bright Lights, was released in 2002, and met with glowing critical reviews and good sales,
with over 300,000 copies sold in just two years. The band became huge successes in Europe, with their second album Antics
(2004) reaching gold in the UK before hitting gold in the US. The band had become so successful that they were asked to write
the official soundtrack for the HBO series, Six Feet Under, and so they released "Direction". Throughout the 2000s, Interpol
rocked the international indie music scene, gaining fans wherever they toured. In 2011, however, the band took a brief hiatus,
reemerging in 2012 after the different members pursued other projects. Fortunately, now Interpol is back together and better
than ever! The current lineup consists of Paul Banks, Daniel Kessler, and Sam Fogarino, and not only are they working on new
music, but they are also gearing up for a handful of knockout shows this summer. Head to StubHub as soon as possible to secure
your Interpol tickets before they are all sold out!
