Iowa State Cyclones Women's Basketball Schedule
When the college basketball season gets underway there is hardly
a better place to be than in Ames, Iowa where both the men's and women's team are ready to put on a show. Both teams have
figured strongly on both the national scene and in the Big 12, but the women's team has been a national power for quite some
time now. Their schedule is loaded with tough games and some of the best programs in all of college basketball will be heading
to Hilton Coliseum looking to come out with a win against Iowa State. However, as history has shown, this is easier said than
done and the Cyclones are always prepared to give their home crowd something to cheer for.
On February 22nd the Texas
Longhorns come to Ames looking to knock off the Iowa State Cyclones. The Texas Longhorns are one of the most successful programs
in NCAA women's basketball and the Cyclones would really make a name for themselves by taking them down late in the season.
March 4th will be Senior Night for the Cyclones and the Baylor Bears will be in the building at Hilton Coliseum. In recent
years the Bears have also established themselves as a national power, although with the exit of some big stars after last
season the Cyclones have a very good chance at pulling off a win and heading into the Big 12 conference tournament with some
momentum. Be sure to check out all of the big games on the Cyclones' schedule here on StubHub.
Iowa State Cyclones
Women's Basketball Conference
While the Big 12 has long been known for its college football, basketball has always
been a big deal in the conference as well and in recent years several schools have stepped up their game making it extremely
difficult for a team to navigate the tough conference schedule. Perennial powerhouses Texas and Kansas always are staunch
competition and with the recent development of programs like Baylor and Kansas State, the conference is only getting tougher.
Playing such a tough regular season schedule annually leaves the teams from the Big 12 who are selected for the Tournament
ready to take on any college in the country and allows for even some of the lower seeds to pull off big time upsets. Each
year teams from the Big 12 go on to become major factors in the NCAA Tournament and make deep runs, often to the Final Four
and to a national championship. When it comes to college sports there is arguably no conference that is historically better
or more dominant than the Big 12.
