So where does the Jack Breslin Student Events Center get its name? Jack Breslin, of course! Breslin was a native of Battle Creek and Michigan State alumnus who played a major role in orchestrating the construction of the university. In 1969 he was an administrator that pushed hard for the creation of the gym, staying heavily involved through its conceptual design.
The multi-purpose student facility includes a practice gymnasium for male and female student performers. In the fall of 2001, an expansion was constructed that added two additional 8,000 square foot auxiliary gymnasiums to the main facility, as well as new office spaces for the basketball teams.
