Jack Johnson Background
Johnson was born and raised in the North Shore of Oahu, and was instilled with the laidback island mindset at an early age.
His father is the well-known surfer, Jeff Johnson, who taught his son how to surf by the time he was five years old. By the
time Jack Johnson was 17, he was surfing in some of the biggest surf competitions in the world, and became the youngest invitee
at Pipeline Masters on the North Shore. Unfortunately, his career prospects as a professional surfer ended just a week later
after he suffered an injury while surfing the Pipeline. Jack had to get over 150 stitches in his forehead and even remove
several of his teeth.
Fortunately, surfing wasn't the only thing Jack Johnson was good at. He was also incredibly creative
and had been playing the guitar since he was eight. His passion for music was equal to his passion of surfing, and after attending
the University of California, Santa Barbara, Jack knew he would want to pursue music as a career. In 1999, Jack had his first
big break when he wrote and sang vocals for G. Love's song "Rodeo Clowns". The song became the biggest hit on this G. Love
album, and helped Jack earn serious recognition and fame in the music industry. Following this success, Jack Johnson decided
to direct his own surf films titled Thicker Than Water and The September Sessions, both of which helped him gain traction
in the entertainment industry.
From the moment he broke into the music industry, music lovers flocked to Jack's catchy
and infectious folk rock tunes. He has released six albums over the course of his career, all of which have met with great
critical acclaim and have spawned hit songs. Jack's music is widely beloved because of its laidback and melodic tunes that
reflect his surfer-inspired vibes. He has earned countless awards and nominations, including a couple of Grammy nominations,
a Brit award victory, a Billboard Touring Awards victory, and many more. His illustrious career has never slowed down since
he started recording music, although he does like to take his time so that he can create quality music—and so that he
can spend time surfing, of course. When this iconic surfer/musician performs at a venue near you, make sure that you are in
the audience to jam out to his knockout songs by buying your tickets from StubHub right away!
Johnson has had an incredibly successful musical career, with six studio albums, two live albums, and 20 singles that have
all met with great acclaim and commercial success. Some of his most popular singles include "Sitting, Waiting, Wishing", "Upside
Down", "If I Had Eyes", "You and Your Heart", "Flake", "Good People", "Better Together", and "I Got You". He has also collaborated
with some of the biggest names in music, including Matt Costa, The Black Eyed Peas, G. Love, Zach Gill, and Colbie Caillat.
In addition to his own albums, Jack Johnson also worked on the soundtrack for the 2006 Curious George film, which went on
to be certified platinum in the US and Australia. With so much success over the course of his career, there's no denying the
