Jackson Browne Background
Jackson Browne was born in Heidelberg, Germany, to American serviceman Clyde Jack Browne
and Beatrice Browne. He didn't spend much of his childhood in Germany, however, as his family moved to Los Angeles when he
was just three years old. Even as a young child, Los Angeles' burgeoning music scene had a great impact on him, and when he
entered his teens he started performing his own folk tunes at some of the most iconic music venues in the world, such as the
Troubador and the Ash Grove. As soon as he graduated high school, Browne decided that he needed a change of scenery and moved
to New York City, where he joined a rock outfit called the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. The band performed many of the songs that
Browne had written, drawing attention to his superb songwriting skills, and by the time he was 18 years old, he had scored
a staff writing job for Elektra Records' Nina Music publication.
After spending a few years in the background of New
York's music scene, Browne decided to head back to Los Angeles, where he soon found major success. In 1971, Browne signed
to Asylum Records and released his album Jackson Browne, which featured hit singles like "Doctor My Eyes" and "Rock Me On
the Water", two hits that drew incredible attention to this intriguing new folk singer. His debut album was a huge hit all
across America, and just like that Jackson Browne had become one of the most popular artists in the country. His 1974 album,
Late for the Sky, also met with phenomenal success and critical acclaim, peaking at number 14 on Billboard's album charts.
His interesting arrangements and thought-provoking lyrics earned Browne an enormous fan base, as well as a slot in Martin
Scorcese's soundtrack for Taxi Driver.
Jackson Browne continued to expand his musical repertoire and earn even more
praise for his work, and it's safe to say that he has had one of the most illustrious careers in the history of folk music.
Jackson Browne is a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, a Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee, and an honorary recipient of
a Doctorate of Music by Occidental College in Los Angeles. Browne is one of the most acclaimed and successful folk artists
in history, and his legacy has been deeply etched into music's current landscape. To this day, Jackson Browne can still put
on a mind blowing performance, which is why you definitely shouldn't miss seeing him live at one of his upcoming shows! Head
