Dawes won't have the up-and-coming label attached to it for much longer, as this roots rock band scored rave reviews from its 2009 debut album, North Hills. It probably helped that the album was the result of jam sessions with the likes of the Black Crowes' Chris Robinson, Bright Eyes' Conor Oberst and the Heartbreakers' Benmont Trench.
