About Jake Bugg
Born into a family of
musicians, Jake would spend his early years learning a variety of musical instruments, from the guitar and piano to percussions
and vocals. Growing up in the city of Nottingham, Jake spent his formative years practicing music in the English countryside,
and took a special liking to classic Americana sounds that would shape his musical retinue into a dynamic mixture of classic
oldies and fresh new indie vibes. Before the age of eighteen Jake would decide that music was the career for him, and he would
drop a formal education in favor of the life of a writing, producing, and performing artist.
Jake's first big break
would come at the age of seventeen, when he would snag a time slot at the Glastonbury Festival after winning a contest with
the music division of the BBC. After a mind blowing performance he would be snatched up by major label Mercury Records, and
his unbeatable music talent was soon commercialized as his tracks invaded airwaves and were used in various marketing campaigns,
as well as in the soundtrack to the major motion picture The Fault in Our Stars. He would make his first appearances on the
British late night circuit, including appearances on the Jools Holland show and on a BBC Radio 6 special.
the release of his debut, Jake would be rained down upon with Brit Awards, include a win for 2013's British Breakthrough Act.
Hot on the release of his debut, Jake picked up a performing band that included Jack Atherton and Tom Robertson and embarked
on a cross isle tour that hit all the major destinations in the UK and Ireland, before crossing the Atlantic to work on his
much anticipated sophomore follow up. With a third album in the works and favorable comparisons drawn to legendary figures
such as Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix, the Jake Bugg music phenomenon is just gaining momentum as he moves to become one the
youngest and most successful performers of a generation.
Jake Bugg's self titled debut would
drop in 2012, sailing to the top of the UK charts and garnering top ten positions in Austria, Germany, Ireland, and New Zealand,
as well as a showing at the #75 spot on the US Billboard 200. Under the production tutelage of Iain Archer and Mike Crossey,
the album received glowing near perfect scores from critics and spawned an unheard of seven successful singles, including
"Trouble Town", "Country Song", "Lightning Bolt", and "Taste It", amongst others.
Jake's followup, Shangri La, would
drop a year later and again make impressive inroads on charts across the board. The album would move to a single producer,
Rick Rubin, and picked up a coveted nine star rating from Clash magazine, amongst other high scores from The Independent and
Digital Spy. The album was carried by six hit singles, including "What Doesn't Kill You" and "Slumville Sunrise".
being a barely twenty year old musician out of England, Jake has worked with some of the largest figures in the American music
history. To date his collaborators include the Red Hot Chili Peppers' Chad Smith and Elvis Costello's Pete Thomas.
