About Jann Arden

A native of Springbank, Alberta, Arden would display a deep interest in music that would boil to the surface over the course of three decades, when she made her big break into the mainstream music industry in her early thirties. After her debut on the music scene in 1993, she would quickly gain momentum as her music lit up the charts and was picked up for use in various media mediums, from radio to television to the big screen. One of her earliest singles, "Insensitive", would be featured in cinema in 1996's hit romantic film Bed of Roses, starring hunky bad boy Christian Slater. However, Arden'srendezvous with Hollywood would be just a footnote in what has become one of the most successful music careers of a generation.

Since her 1993 breakout, Ardenhas released a steady stream of albums that have consistently topped charts and invaded airways. As much as celebrity today as a musician, Arden's life has become inspiration for those that listen to her, with her utilizing her numerous personal struggles as inspiration for her music as well as her public image. A believer in honesty with yourself and those around you, Ardenhas shared her trials and tribulations with the public, including her battle with heart disease and the struggles of coping with a family member in prison.

Jann Arden is admired by fans and critics alike, having a long list of notable awards over her long and storied career. Amongst her many accolades includes Juno awards for songwriter of the year in both the 90s and 00's, and recognition as female artist of the year twice, in both 1995 and 2001. In 2006 Ardenbecame a permanent figure in Canada's pop culture, receiving a star in Toronto on Canada's Walk of Fame. She's also been a prolific entertainer, showing up on major television appearances in both Canada and the United States, including the sitcom Ellen, as a performer at NBA All-Star games, and in charity appearances for organizations such as World VIsion.

Jann Arden would be a phenomenon from day one, with her 1993 debut release beating all expectations as it went platinum and lit up critic columns Canada over. Released on A&M records, the album would be produced under the tutelage of visionary producer Ed Cherney, and feature a wide range of instruments, sounds, and influences. The album would be foundational for Arden, entering the tracks "I Would Die for You", "I"m Not Your Lover" and the saucy "Kitchen Window" into her core discography.

Nearly fifteen years later and a string of successes later, Ardenwould drop Uncover Me, one of the fundamental pieces of Arden's catalogue that climbed to the #3 position in the Canadian charts and soon went certified platinum. The album showed a more mature Jann Arden who had not lost any of her vitality, and was carried by the singles "Bring the Boys Home", "At Seventeen", and "California Dreamin'".


Jann Ardenis not just a musician, but also an author. She has published three books, as well as written advice columns. Her books include If i Knew, Don't You Think I'd Tell You as well as her memoir, Falling Backwards.
