About The Artist
Starship has been a foundation of solid rock 'n' roll since the early 1960s. Their music defined a generation, and served
as the soundtrack for millions of rock fans around the world. It showed everyone what it meant to eat, sleep and breathe rock
'n' roll. Their hit singles and top-ranking albums dominated the airwaves for more than a decade. Their music took the very
best rock n' roll had to offer and made it mainstream. But despite their popularity and mainstream success, they never compromised
their sound or integrity.
Jefferson Airplane, the band's first incarnation, was founded by singer and guitarist Paul
Kantner in 1965. They would soon become one of the biggest rock groups in America. They began as the Planet Earth Rock and
Roll Orchestra, singing about a group of Earthlings escaping the planet on a hijacked starship. The unusual subject matter
and creative storytelling elements earned the band a Hugo Award nomination, which is a science fiction prize that rarely honors
musical recordings. Jefferson Airplane (later Jefferson Starship) was not only musically-talented, but they were also socially
conscious and had their fingers on the pulse of contemporary American life. And through the years, the band adapted to the
times, thus becoming an evolved version of themselves called Jefferson Starship. From then until now, no other band has so
owned the stage quite like Jefferson Starship.

Jefferson Starship had already been
performing and creating music for several years when they first found mainstream success. With the help of Marty Balin's ballad
"Miracles" on their 1975 album, Red Octopus, Jefferson Starship topped the charts. They took the No. 1 spot on the Billboard
charts and the album went multi-platinum. Their next album, Spitfire was almost as popular, reaching No. 3 on the Billboard
charts and going platinum. Because of their success, they gained the attention of RCA Records, who spent hundreds of thousands
of dollars on their third album. The album spawned two hits "Count on Me" and "Runaway," and led to a US and European tour.
Today, they continue to perform and create music that draws crowds to concert halls all over the country. Don't miss your

Jefferson Starship Trivia
the early 1990s, Kantner delighted fans when he created Jefferson Starship – The Next Generation. The name was a reference
to the popular science fiction television show Star Trek: The Next Generation. He enlisted former Jefferson Airplane musicians
and some of his musician friends to participate in his latest project. He focused more on an acoustic-style of performing,
which was a big trend during that time. He toured around the country with the next generation band, finding that devoted fans
were still following and new fans couldn't get enough of their inventive sound. The band eventually dropped "The Next Generation"
and found success throughout the '90s and 2000s. Today, they are still just as popular and continue to tour the country, performing
for captivated audiences everywhere.
