About Jeffrey Osborne
Funk singer Jeffrey Osborne was born into a family of
music, with his father being a talented trumpeter who played with musicians from the likes of Lionel Hampton and Duke Ellington.
Osborne got his own start in music with his band, Love Men Ltd., which was eventually called, L.T.D. The band went on to enjoy
great success, and they released popular hit singles like "Love Ballad," "Holding On (When Love Is Gone)," "(Every Time I
Turn Around) Back in Love Again," and "Concentrate on You." After his time with L.T.D., Osborne went on to pursue a successful
By 1982, Jeffrey Osborne had released his self-titled debut album. His popular debut included the hit songs,
"I Really Don't Need No Light," which reached the number 3 position on the U.S. R&B charts, and "On the Wings of Love,"
which made it to number 13. He followed up with his next album, "Stay With Me Tonight," which eventually went platinum. "Stay
With Me Tonight" produced hits like "Don't You Get So Mad" and the title track, which made it to numbers 25 and 30 on the
charts. Osborne later released his album "Don't Stop" in 1984, which went gold and peaked at number 7 on the R&B album
chart. By this point, Osborne was unstoppable, and he released yet another album that would eventually be certified gold.
"Emotional" was released in 1986, and featured one of his biggest pop hits, "You Should Be Mine (The Woo Woo Song.)" The song
reached number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100, and the album itself went to number 5 on the Billboard R&B albums chart.
Osborne would soon experience another surge in popularity when he teamed up with Dionne Warwick for the song, "Love Power,"
which peaked at number 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 1 on the Adult Contemporary singles chart. He continued to record
and release several singles throughout the years that followed, including "She's On The Left," "If My Brother's In Trouble,"
"Only Human," and "Rest of Our Lives."
