Jeremy Camp showed a knack for music in college, and got involved with his campus music ministry. He started performing at events throughout California, building a reputation and eventually self-releasing a debut, 2000's Burden Me. Soon afterward, a woman he had fallen in love was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Camp married her, and not long after she passed on. Funneling his sorrow into his music, Camp produced his first major release, 2002's Stay.
