Born in 1984, Jessie Ware grew up in South London. She is the daughter of Helena and John Ware, a BBC Panorama reporter. After completing her English literature degree at Sussex University, Brighton, Jessie worked with Man Like Me and also performed as a backup singer for Jack Penate, an old school chum. It was on Jack's tour that Ware became exposed to the music of SBTRKT, which had a tremendous impact on her career. In 2010 she loaned her vocals to SBTRKT for track Nervous on Numbers. The following year Jessie Ware worked with Bristol producer Joker on The Vision, the leading single from his premiere album. Jessie Ware's first feature release on PMR Records was Strangest Feeling in the fall of 2011. Running was released in February 2012, followed by 110%, which peaked at No. 61 in the UK, and Wildest Moments. Her debut album Devotion, ranked No. 5 on the UK Albums Chart, and was also announced as a nominee for the respected Mercury Prize.
