About Jewel

Jewel was just 21 years old when she released her debut album, "Pieces of You" in 1995. Her debut release was phenomenally successful, maintaining its position on the Billboard 200 for two years. In the United States alone, the album has sold over 12 million copies. "Pieces of You" produced the classic hit songs, "Who Will Save Your Soul," "You Were Meant For Me," and "Foolish Games." By 1998, Jewel had released her sophomore album, "Spirit," which reached the number 3 position on the Billboard 200, and went on to sell over 4 million copies in the United States. "Spirit" took a more pop-oriented direction, rather than Jewel's previous acoustic/folk sound, and she thus gained a new generation of fans. The album's hit song "Hands" reached the number 6 spot on the Hot 100, and also paved the way for her other hits, including "Jupiter (Swallow the Moon)," "Life Uncommon," and "What's Simple is True."

Following on her trail of success, Jewel released a holiday album called "Joy: A Holiday Collection," which sold over one million copies and managed to hit the number 32 spot on the Billboard 200. Jewel returned to the studio, and in November 2001 she released her next album, "This Way," which proved to be another massively successful album. "This Way" peaked at number 9 on the Billboard 200, selling over 1.5 million copies in the United States. The album spawned the memorable pop hits "Standing Still," "Break Me," "Serve the Ego," and "This Way."

Jewel's Breakthrough Album

Jewel's debut album "Pieces of You" was an instant success, taking her from being a small-time San Diego musician to being one of the best-selling artists in the United States. The album was certified 15x Platinum in the U.S., 6x Platinum in Australia, and 8x Platinum in Canada. The massive success of Jewel's debut album allowed her to subsequently release several more albums that also went on to sell millions. She has been nominated for four Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist, Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Who Will Save You Soul," Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for "Foolish Games," and Female Country Vocal for "Satisfied." She has also won a number of awards, including an American Music Award for Favorite New Artist, an MTV Video Music Award for Best Female Video, Billboard Magazine's No. 1 Female Singles Artist of the Year, and many more. Jewel became one of the best-selling female artists of the 90s and beyond, proving that she is here to stay.
