Director of Business Development, Music and Entertainment

Summary of Duties:

We are looking for a Director of Music Business Development to head up the effort to attain VIP packages and other unique experience from performing artists to sell on StubHub.com. We are looking for someone with significant experience and strong relationships in the music industry. The Director of Music Business Development would also focus on doing traditional business development deals with music properties both online and offline. The Director will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of strategic partnerships with artists, managers, promoters, agents, record labels and others in the Music and Entertainment Industry. This individual will be responsible for developing and negotiating strategic relationships with partners in the music and entertainment industries as labeled above. These relationships will secure exclusive tickets, ticket packages and other unique experiences to sell on StubHub. Specific types of relationships include 1) securing tickets and VIP ticket packages for large, national music tours 2) securing large allocations of tickets for fan club ticket sales 3) working with artists and others to enable pre-sales for high profile concert tours on StubHub 4) working to secure other types of unique inventory including access to movie premieres, awards shows and other high profile events. These relationships can be for profit arrangements for the artist or manager or can be done with the proceeds benefiting the charity of the performer's choice.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Create the strategic plan for StubHub's Music Business Development effort including goals oriented around profitable revenue generation, customer acquisition and brand awareness.
  • Identify, structure and negotiate deals to attain unique and high profile tickets, VIP ticket packages and exclusive experiences to concert tours, movie premieres and other high demand events.
  • Understand the competitive landscape in the ticketing industry.
Skills and Abilities Needed:
  • BA/BS degree required, MBA a plus.
  • Strategic thinker
  • MUST have an extensive Rolodex and deep contacts within the Music Industry.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial, aggressive, dynamic and patient
  • Must be able to thrive in fast paced environment

Ideal candidate for this position will have experience with artist relations for a talent agency, artist management firm, radio broadcaster, concert promoter or other company that has direct exposure to the music and entertainment industry.
