Singer/songwriter/keyboardist John Valby was born in 1945 in Rochester, New York. His father was a talented violinist and certainly influenced his early interest in music. Brought up in a Catholic Jesuit tradition, ironically, he was taught piano by nuns. He majored in philosophy and served in the Vietnam War. It was in his fraternity days that he began penning bawdy songs, much to the amusement of his frat brothers. When he became a professional performer, his unusual act included ragtime and pop standards. It was in 1975, while touring Buffalo, New York, that he began to play "filthy" songs, which he has since perfected! Pick up your theater tickets right now on StubHub to witness the antics of John Valby!

Attired in white tuxedo, black bow tie and derby hat, while seated at an old-fashioned piano, John Valby belts out songs that center around sex, racial slurs and downright obscenities that would shock even the most twisted of minds. Dr. Dirty plays mostly in barrooms and college campuses up and down the East Coast and across the nation. His topics of vulgarity also included numbers on popular people and historic events with seasonal parodies of much-adored holiday tunes. With titles like Sit on a Happy Face, Herniated Jiggle Bells, Sheep Thrills and Tickling the Ovaries, one can only assume that this performer has no limits to his subject matter. With over 30 albums to his credit, Valby has covered 40 years of musical comic sleaze. Also within his credits, he has appeared as a bordello emcee in the teen sex comedy, Losin' It, and wrote the score for the short feature, Nancy Ray Smiggen's Family Tree and the Magic Extravaganza. Valby considers himself more a musician than comedian. He is quoted, "I am a comedian by accident - and necessity, I myself, am not a funny guy. When you meet a comedian, they are compulsively on all the time. I'm not tied to that format."
