Johnny Marr Background
Johnny Marr (born John Maher) grew up in Manchester, England, where he developed two fantastic
hobbies: playing soccer and playing music. He juggled his two passions for years, hitting the soccer field one day and hitting
the stage another day. When he was 13 years old, he formed his first band called the Paris Valentinos, and his passion for
music grew, eventually replacing his desire to pursue soccer professionally. Marr played in a couple of lesser-known bands,
such as Freaky Party and Sister Ray, before he would snag his big break in music as a co-founder of the Smiths. Along with
Steven Morrissey, Marr helped create one of the most distinct and beloved British bands of the '80s, and the Smiths soon became
an international sensation.
Up until 1987, the Smiths had achieved incredible success, but Marr decided to leave the
group because he felt that their creative approach to music had fizzled out. Nobody could deny Marr's incredible creative
talent, so his desire to pursue other musical projects seemed fitting. He then went on to join numerous other musical groups,
such as The The and Electronic. These two groups provided Marr with a different outlet for his musical genius, as one was
an alternative electronic dance group and the other was an eclectic dance-pop outfit. Of course, Marr couldn't help but test
his hand at a solo career, and he has experienced significant success as a solo artist throughout the years. Now you have
a chance to see the famed Johnny Marr perform some of his greatest hits live on stage! Don't miss out on this one-of-a-kind
