About the Artist
Born in Lares,
Puerto Rico in 1945, Jose Feliciano suffered from a sever case of congenital glaucoma which left him blind at birth. This
was not enough to keep him from playing music as he started beating along on a tin can at the age of three. Soon after his
father gave him an accordion and a guitar which he would play alone in his room for up to fourteen hours a day while listening
to jazz and 50's rock and roll. He eventually enrolled in some classical music classics and dropped out of school at seventeen
to pursue a music career. He quickly began gigging around the United States and Canada, with several gigs in the Greenwich
Village music scene where he played at the same time as fellow legends Bob Dylan and Joan Baez. By 1963 he had signed with
a major record label and the following two years released two albums, The Voice and Guitar of Jose Feliciano and A Bag Full
of Soul, which helped get him exposure on the radio and earned him a reputation as one of the best guitarists in the world.
His star continued to grow in the Sixties and he eventually was asked to play duets with Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Diana
Ross, Johnny Cash, and others. 1970 saw the release of Feliz Navidad, a Christmas album recorded by Feliciano and the title
song of that album became a Christmas classic that remains popular to this day.
In the early
Sixties Jose Feliciano started gaining a lot of attention while playing as part of the Greenwich Village folk scene and his
notoriety helped him get signed by RCA Victor. Everybody Do the Click, released in 1964, was Jose Feliciano's first single
and it was a huge hit in the Philippines reaching number two on the charts. Due to the success of that single and his well-deserved
reputation on the folk scene, Feliciano was invited to perform at the Newport Folk Festival in 1964. He released an album
in each of the following two years and they both received major airplay in the United States as well as other parts of the
world. While he still remained popular in the folk music world, it was the release of Feliz Navidad in 1970 that really made
Jose Feliciano. The song became a timeless classic and is almost as ubiquitous during the Christmas season as other Yuletide
classics like Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer and Frosty the Snowman.

one to surprise the crowd, perhaps Jose Feliciano sprinkles in some new songs throughout the set, or decides to play covers
of traditional folk songs. This is your chance to see a true international superstar and legend of the genre, and Jose Feliciano
definitely exceeds expectations. Jose Feliciano has an ability to connect with the audience and seduce with her voice that
is not always found in modern pop music. Do not miss the chance to see Jose Feliciano when he hits your town.
2012 Jose Feliciano performed in Memphis as part of a tribute to Elvis Presley and used the opportunity to announce the release
of his album The King which in itself was a tribute to Elvis. Feliciano claims to have drawn a lot of inspiration from Ray
Charles, another blind musician who has gone on to become a timeless legend.
