Hailing from Berkeley, California, Joshua Redman was introduced to music fairly early in his life. Though he had a well-developed love for music since childhood, it wouldn't be until he moved to Brooklyn to live with Berklee College of Music graduates that his passion for jazz would flourish. In 1991, Redman would win the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition. He would release his self-titled debut album in 1993, which would be shortly followed by "Wish" that same year.
