Kaiser Chiefs Background
Kaiser Chiefs was founded by childhood friends Nick
Baines, Simon Rix, and Nick Hodgson. These three boys met when they were just 11 years old at St. Mary's Catholic High School
in West Yorkshire, England. After high school, Rix and Baines left to attend college elsewhere, while Hodgson stayed in Leeds,
where he met Andrew White and Ricky Wilson. Along with these two new friends, Hodgson formed a band called Runston Parva,
but they failed to achieve significant success or a record deal, so they disbanded momentarily. When Rix and Baines came home
from university, Hodgson gathered his four musical friends and formed Parva, which attained enough recognition that they soon
secured a record deal. After their record deal went south, no other record label wanted to sign them, so the group decided
to rename themselves and strive for a bigger and better record deal, which is exactly what they did.

Kaiser Chiefs were well on their way to major commercial success. After extensive touring and performing at major music festivals,
the band received their big breakthrough as an opening act on the NME Awards Tour, a position previously held by bands like
Coldplay and Franz Ferdinand. From then on, Kaiser Chiefs were one of the biggest bands in the UK, scoring several hits near
the tops of music charts and earning countless awards and accolades for their great blend of new wave and indie rock music.
