About Keith Urban
A product from the far off lands of Oceania, Keith
Urban spent his earliest days in New Zealand and Australia, where he would first to begin a passion for music. Picking up
a guitar before the age of ten, Keith spent his early years practicing guitar playing and performing, entering himself into
the public spotlight whenever possible. By the age of 10, he had already performed in multiple country music festivals and
by his teen years he was competing in front of the whole of Australia on the popular talent show New Faces. A pioneer of the
Australian country music scene, Keith made fast friends with like minded musicians such as Reg Lindsay and Mike McClellan.
He would get one of his earliest recognitions after performing a duet at the Tamworth Country Music Festival, winning a golden
guitar award alongside fellow Australian Jenny Wilson.
Keith got his local break in 1990, signing with Australian label
EMI and immediately got to work recording his debut. With an unbreakable work ethic, Keith hit the road, touring and promoting
himself all across Australia alongside fellow performer Slim Dusty, before finally making the big move to musical mecca Nashville,
Tennessee in 1992. He would quickly immerse himself in the local music scene, collaborating with some of the biggest artists
in the business including Alan Jackson, the Raybon Brothers, Paul Jefferson, and Charlie Daniels.
After a slow and steady
build up throughout the 90s, Keith reached critical mass in the 2000s after a brief battle and victory over addiction. He
began releasing hit album after hit album, receiving a Top New Male Vocalist Award from the Academy of Country Music, as well
as the coveted Horizon Award from the Country Music Association. Critics were piling onto Keith Urban's signature sound, praising
his unique riffs and unsurpassable talents on the guitar. The momentum would continue as he reached the most important point
of his career up to that point, winning a Grammy Award for Best Male Country Vocal Performance. Somehow, Keith balanced a
busy studio schedule with constant worldwide commitments, with continent spanning tours of sold out concerts and screaming
Keith has not slowed down one bit, still putting out hit album after hit album and continuing to have accolades
rained down upon him, including induction into the Grand Ole Opry, one of the holy grails of country performance artistry.
His 2013 release is just as hot as his 1999 American debut, garnering praise and consistent airplay all across the world.
Keith's self titled American debut would catapult him into the mainstream, earning him a #17 charting
album and his first ever platinum certification. The album would be carried by the single "It's a Love Thing", which would
hit top twenty across multiple charts and become Keith's early anthem. His anticipated follow up, Golden Road, dropped in
2002 and hit the #2 position on the country charts, supported by the megahits "Somebody Like You", "Who Wouldn't Wanna Be
Me" and "Raining on Sunday", which charted at #1, #1, and #3, respectively. Golden Road would also cruise to a cool triple
platinum certification, making it one of Keith's best selling albums ever.
Year after year, Keith consistently put out
mega hit albums, culminating in 2013's Fuse, which would be his first across the board #1 charting album, hitting the top
spot in the US Country, US 200, Canadian, and Australian charts. With the hits "Little Bit of Everything", "We Were US", and
"Cop Car", hit albums and good times has become old hat for this country music legend.
late 90s, Keith struggled with a debilitating cocaine habit. Not about to let addiction topple him at the cusp of one of the
most successful country music careers in history, Keith kicked his habit and moved forward with his life.
