About Kellie Pickler
Dawn Pickler first gained fame as a contestant on the fifth season of American Idol, coming in sixth place. It was not the
first or last time that her beauty or beautiful voice would win her accolades though. Born in 1986 in the small town of Albemarle,
NC, she would become "Miss Stanley County" at age 17 and compete in the "Miss North Carolina" pageant. A year later she finished
second in a Charlotte television station's local singing competition. With her parents in and out of prison as well as her
life, Kellie was raised mostly by her grandparents, and this tough girl makes no apologies for her small town country roots.
She holds up Dolly Parton as her greatest influence, and her Idol performances included hits by country legends Patsy Clineand
Bobbie Gentry. After her fame-making stint on American Idol, Kellie released a number of successful country albums before
returning to television, this time as a contestant on the sixteenth season of Dancing with the Stars.
Like all sweet
country gals, Kellie uses her success, talent, and sweet Southern charm to help those in need. She has taken part in three
USO tours, two of which were in Iraq, and appeared on celebrity editions of game shows, playing for charity. She strongly
supports St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, raising funds and visiting children. In 2012, Kellie shaved her head while
appearing on Good Morning America to show support for her friend who had begun chemotherapy for breast cancer.
After her elimination on American Idol, Kellie wasted no time releasing her debut album, aptly named Small Town
Girl. The album landed at number nine on the Billboard 200, and went gold within a few months. It included the hit "Red High
Heels" for which she received an ASCAP songwriter award for co-writing. Her debut album includes the hits "I Wonder" and "Things
That Never Cross a Man's Mind" as well. Kellie also released her rendition of "Santa Baby" on a country Christmas music compilation
for 2007. She was nominated by the CMA two years in a row for "New Artist of the Year" and the Academy of Country Music nominated
her for "Top New Female Vocalist of the Year" but she lost to her friend Taylor Swift.
Kellie's second album, the self-titled
Kellie Pickler, contained Kellie's first top ten Hot Country Songs hit. The song, "Best Days of Your Life" was co-written
by Taylor Swift, who also sang back-up vocals and appeared in the video. Other singles from Kellie Pickler include "Don't
You Know You're Beautiful" and "Didn't You Know How Much I Loved You."
The rollicking "Tough" was the biggest hit off
of Kellie's third album, 100 Proof, and her fourth, the well-received The Woman I am, included her songs "Someone Somewhere
Tonight" and "Little Bit Gypsy."
Kellie may very well be one of the only country stars to visit
the far northern Canadian territory of Nunavut. She traveled there in 2007 with then-boyfriend Jordin Tootoo of the Nashville
Predators to meet his family.
Kellie followed in the footsteps of friend and fellow country gal Carrie Underwood when
she became a vegetarian in 2008. In 2009, PETA declared her to be the "World's Sexiest Vegetarian."
served time in Florida for aggravated assault and battery. He and Kellie were reunited when he was released, a week after
her run on Idol ended.
The Kellie Pickler Concert Experience
Kellie Pickler has previously toured with
Brad Paisley, Rascal Flatts, Sugarland, and Taylor Swift. Her gorgeous voice, emotive singing, and notedly quirky personality
combine to make a show you won't soon forget, and one that may even bring a tear to your eye. At the 2007 CMA Awards, Kellie
performed her hit "I Wonder," a deeply personal song about her long-absent mother. Kellie was so overcome by emotion while
singing that she struggled to go on, and at last burst into tears. She received a standing ovation and later received CMT's
"Performance of the Year" award for her heartfelt and stirring performance. Whether she is tugging at your heartstrings or
making you tap your feet to a good ol' country tune, Kellie Pickler will put on a show you do not want to miss. Keep your
