Kenny Rodgers Background

Kenny Rodgers was born and raised in Houston, Texas. When he was in high school, he decided that his true calling was music, so he saved up money and bought his first guitar. With some musical knowledge on his side, Rodgers formed a rockabilly group called The Scholars. While the band did achieve moderate success, despite the fact that Rodgers was not the lead singer, Rodgers decided that he wanted to pursue a solo career, so he left the band in the late '50s and got to work recording his own music. In 1958, Rodgers released his debut single, "That Crazy Feeling", which gained some minor buzz but failed to cast Rodgers into the music spotlight. In the years following, Rodgers joined several other groups, such as The Minstrels, The Bobby Doyle Three, and The First Edition. Rodgers got his first taste of true success with The First Edition, who churned out hits like "Just Dropped IN (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)" and "But You Know I Love You". Despite their success, The First Edition disbanded in 1976, leaving Rodgers once again on his own to work on his solo career.

After leaving The First Edition, Rodgers signed with United Artists and started immediately churning out hits, such as "Laura (What's He Got That I Ain't Got)", "While the Feeling's Good", and "Lucille". Throughout the '80s, Kenny Rodgers continued to wow his fans with every new record he released and every show he put on. Time after time, Rodgers scored another Billboard charting hit, and soon he became one of the biggest names not just in country music, but in the music industry in general. Even people who didn't consider themselves country fans became infatuated with Kenny Rodgers' contagious charisma and catchy tunes. With so many decades of success under his belt, it should come as no surprise that Kenny Rodgers' collection of awards is one of the largest around. Not only has he pocketed numerous Grammy Awards, but he has also received several Lifetime Achievement Awards from organizations like the Country Music Association Awards, the International Entertainment Buyers Association, the TNN Music Awards, and more! This beloved country crooner has established himself as a legend in the music world, and he has secured fans all over the globe.

Whether you consider yourself a diehard music fan or just love to see incredible artists in concert, you definitely shouldn't miss out on seeing Kenny Rodgers in action. This talented and widely beloved artist is one of the most influential country artists of all time, and both USA Today and People took polls and discovered that Rodgers is considered the "Favorite Singer of All Time".
