Kenny Wayne Shepherd taught himself how to play guitar at the remarkable young age of seven. Taking cues from Muddy Waters, a staple of his father's record collection, Shepherd honed his craft enough to be invited onstage by Bryan Lee, the New Oleans bluesman, at the age of 13. After validating his abilities as a talented musician, Shepherd decided to pursue music as a career. Demo tapes were developed and a two camera video was filmed at his debut performance at the Red River Revel Arts Festival in Shreveport. And it was the video performance that sealed Shepherd's fate when Giant Records Chief Irving Azoff got a hold of it. He was so impressed that he inked a multiple album record deal with Shepherd - a brilliant move for both of them!

In 2008, Fender Musical Instruments Corp. released the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Signature Series Stratocaster, created exclusively by Shepherd. Most recently, Shepherd developed 10 Days Out: Blues from the Backroads. This unique DVD/CD project documents Shepherd's cross-country journeys as he gigs with and interviews the last of the true blues musicians. From the great B.B.
