The Experience

As the teams set up for opening tip off the fans stand up and vociferously cheer for their alma mater and hometown favorites, you'll see that college basketball is a sport that needs to be experienced first-hand if you want to truly appreciate it. Before you know it the clock is winding down in the second half and the two sides are wrapped up in yet another tight contest. When the game is on the line in a matchup that has already had its fair share of twists and turns, you'll understand that this is big boy basketball played at the highest possible level.

The Team

The biggest rivalry by far for the Kentucky Wildcats exists with in-state rivals the Louisville Cardinals. Fortunately for basketball fans everywhere, the two schools face each other at least once a year despite not being in the same conference. This long standing rivalry has long been one of the best in the sport and only intensified a few years ago when former Kentucky head coach, and basketball Hall of Fame member, Rick Pitino took over as the head coach of Louisville. As for an SEC rival, Kentucky is also always anxious to take on the Florida Gators, who are annually competing with the Wildcats to earn the top spot in the conference standings. Florida is the only other school in the conference to have won more than one national title and the Wildcats are constantly looking to cement their position as the dominant basketball team in the SEC.

Kentucky Wildcats Trivia

Did you know that the Wildcats have won the NCAA Tournament eight different times?

As one of the most dominant programs in the history of college basketball, the Wildcats and their fans have seen plenty of success over the years, routinely not just making it to the Tournament but making deep runs as well.

Kentucky Wildcats History

Starting with their first national title back in 1948, the Wildcats have built their program into a perennial powerhouse that is always flirting with the top of the standings thanks to rosters that tend to be stacked with the stars of both today and tomorrow. The Wildcats have won NCAA titles in five different decades, with too many players going on to play in the NBA to name without trying to write the next great American novel. Some of the best players, however, include current superstars like Anthony Davis, Rajon Rondo, John Wall and more, and the list of ex-NBA players is also very long as well. But even though the Wildcats have had plenty of successful seasons over the years, this is a program that remains hungry to get right back to the top of the sport, which is why each and every one of their games is a highly followed sporting event around Lexington.

Wildcats Fans

The Wildcats play their home games at the Rupp Arena in Lexington, a state-of-the-art venue that is known as being one of the very best in all of college basketball. But even though home games are an absolute must, it can also be just as exciting to be there on the road when the Wildcats take to the court for an epic battle against a talented opponent in a game that is sure to have plenty of twists, turns and nail-biting moments. When you're there, whether home or on the road, and you're wearing your proud Wildcats colors, you'll definitely understand with crystal clear clarity that there is no substitution for the live viewing experience, as it's the only way to see the game from a completely different level.
