Kentucky Wildcats Schedule in 2013-14

The Kentucky Wildcats are ready to tear into the competition this season as they face off with some of the very best teams in college hoops. The Wildcats yet again look to have one of the best teams in the country thanks to another star-studded recruiting class. Competing in the Southeast Conference, the Wildcats have their work cut out for themselves each and every season, and 2013-14 should be no different. The Wildcats are coming off a 2012-13 season in which they won 21 games, 12 in conference play. The team knows that they're going to have to step up their game this season if they want to contend for the conference title and a National Championship, which are the annual expectations for this storied program. With freshman big man Julius Randle leading the charge for Kentucky, this could be a banner season in which the Wildcats rack up a lot of big wins. The team has some huge games coming their way in Lexington this season.

The Wildcats have a big matchup coming on February 27th when they will host the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Razorbacks will be looking to storm the court and take home a big win, but the Wildcats have other plans. Certainly the team will look to establish Randle down low early, as this freshman is nearly unstoppable on the offensive end of the court.

Kentucky will close out their home schedule on March 4th when the Alabama Crimson Tide come to town to do battle. The final home game of the season is always a big event in Lexington, especially with a quality opponent like the Tide hitting the court. The biggest Wildcats fans will be there in the stands to cheer their team on to a big win to finish up the 2013-14 home schedule.

Great Players for the Kentucky Wildcats

The Kentucky Wildcats basketball program is one of the elite programs in college basketball, boasting a history rivaled by very few schools in the country. A program doesn't attain that kind of status without seeing some amazing players hit the court over the years. Kentucky has certainly seen their fair share of amazing athletes throughout the team's history. One such player was Jamal Mashburn, who was an absolute scoring machine during his time at Kentucky. Mashburn would go on to play in the National Basketball Association, where he was an All-Star and averaged 19 points per game for his career. Recent Wildcats to find success at Kentucky that resulted in being selected with the first pick in the NBA Draft in include John Wall and Anthony Davis, who players that are carving out fantastic careers in the NBA already.

Kentucky Wildcats Fan Traditions

Fans of the Kentucky basketball program love themselves a good rivalry, and the Wildcats certainly have some great ones for them to enjoy. The biggest rivalry by far for the Kentucky Wildcats exists within state rivals, the Louisville Cardinals. Fortunately for basketball fans everywhere the two schools face each other at least once a year, despite not being in the same conference. This long-standing rivalry has long been one of the best in the sport and only intensified a few years ago when former Kentucky head coach, and basketball Hall of Fame member, Rick Pitino took over as the head coach of Louisville. As for an SEC rival, Kentucky is always anxious to take on the Florida Gators, a team that is annually competing with the Wildcats to earn the top spot in the conference standings. Florida is the only other school in the conference to have won more than one national title and the Wildcats are well aware of this fact and are constantly looking to cement their position as the dominant basketball team in the SEC.
