Kimberly Locke was born and raised in Tennessee and grew up singing every chance she got including at her home church. While studying business at Belmont University, Locke sang with a local band and when the casting call for the 2003 season of American Idol came about, her friends and family convinced her to try out. Locke made it to the semi-finalist round with winner Ruben Studard didn't make it any further.
