Kings of Leon tickets - Kings of Leon Tour

Kings of Leon Tour Dates

Since the three Followhill brothers and one of their cousins first got together to form a band back in 2000, Kings of Leon have become one of the biggest bands in the world. Their mix of Southern rock, blues, and pop rock has taken the world by storm and won over millions of fans. Sure their music sounds great on the recordings, but that does not compare to the power of seeing them performing live. As they have gotten bigger and better so has their live show which is now full of full fledged light shows, video screens, and pyrotechnics. There has never been a better time to see Kings of Leon, whether it is for the first time or the fiftieth.

Kings of Leon begin their 2014 tour on March 19th at Ak-Chin Pavilion in Phoenix. The band continues on in March with shows in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver. The April portion of the tour begins at Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary on April 1st before Kings of Leon continue on to Edmonton, Saskatoon, Tulsa, and the Woodlands, Texas before wrapping up the tour at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans on April 11th. If Kings of Leon are not coming to your neck of the woods on tour just yet be sure to keep checking back on StubHub to see when this spectacular band adds more shows.

About the Band

Anthony, Ivan, and Michael Followill grew up as their family traveled around Oklahoma and the Deep South, with their father Ivan functioning as the preacher for Unite Pentecostal on a mission to spread the Word to small communities and tent revivals. Occasionally the brothers were asked to bang the drums at some of their father's events, but normally they were not a part of the events' music. In 1997, after their parents' divorce, the brothers moved to Nashville and studied songwriting under Angelo Petraglia, who taught the boys about rock and roll and exposed them to the likes of Thin Lizzy, The Rolling Stones and The Clash. The youngest brother, Jared, went to public school after their parents' divorce and there friends showed him the music of the Pixies and the Velvet Underground. All of these musical influences helped to influence the band's style later on. In 2000, along with their cousin Matthew, the boys formed a band and called themselves the Kings of Leon. Before long they signed to RCA Records and released their first EP Holy Roller Novocaine to rave reviews. In 2003 they released their debut album Youth and Young Manhood which became a success in the U.K. They have since recorded five more albums: Aha Shake Heartbreak, Because of the Times, Only by Night, Come Around Sundown, and 2013's Mechanical Bull. Kings of Leon continue to record and tour as one of the biggest bands in the world.

Breakthrough

The band had achieved moderate success on their early albums but it was not until the release of their third album, Because of the Times, that they really topped the charts. he lead single from the album, On Call, was a smash hit in the U.K. and the album debuted at number one on the U.K. charts. By the time Kings of Leon released their following album Only by the Night, which featured the single Sex on Fire which became their first international smash hit single, the band was set to take the world by storm.

The Experience

Time appeared to slow down in the days leading up to the night of the concert, but finally as the lights lower you begin to see the talented group Kings of Leon making their way out onto the stage. The crowd erupts in applause as the band members pick up their instruments each other signalling that they are ready to begin. A hush falls over the crowd as the band busts in to some of their biggest hits, and plays them all one after another. The crowd once again erupts and sings and dances along to hits throughout the night. The entire venue is drenched in beautiful noise as the Kings of Leon bring their soaring harmonies and indie rock sound to the forefront. You will be wondering if this is the future of pop music or the future of rock. Either way, you are witnessing one of the most exciting and fresh bands of the past ten years at the height of their powers, so sit back and enjoy. The high energy output from the band translates perfectly to the crowd and you spend the entire night dancing and singing along. If there is just one concert you attend in the next few months make sure it is the Kings of Leon.

Trivia

Kings of Leon were the subject of Talihina Sky, a documentary by film maker Stephen C. Mitchell who took the title from an early Kings of Leon song.
