K’Naan joined his father and other relatives in Harlem when he was 13 before moving to Ontario and got his start as an MC in 1999.         After performing at the U.N.’s 50th anniversary concert held in Geneva in 1999, K’Naan impressed Senegalese singer Youssou N’Dour, who asked him to contribute to his 2001 album Building Bridges. K’Naan released his debut album, The Dusty Foot Philosopher, in Canada in 2005 and subsequently toured with Mos Def and Talib Kweli. The hip-hop community can’t stop talking about K’Naan.
