KT Tunstall was born in Scotland in 1975. She was adopted and raised by a family in Edinburgh until her twenties, when she met her real mother. Coincidentally, Tunstall's mother told her that her father was also a folk musician. She began her musical career by performing on the street and in a commune. She then joined a few different bands before giving it a go on her own. Her first album, "Eye to the Telescope" went Platinum and reached as high as #3 on the charts in the UK.
