For Georges and Albin, all the world's a stage. They own a popular gay nightclub called La Cage Aux Folles - or, in English, The Birdcage. But when
Georges' son asks them to meet his fiancee's conservative parents, they're suddenly thrust into the spotlight in an entirely
new way. Get tickets and see how this colorful couple learns to cope with their in-laws.
La Cage
Aux Folles has been adapted many times over. It originally debuted as a comedic French play in 1973, and then was adapted
for film in 1978. Several sequels followed, along with an American adaptation starring Robin Williams in 1996. This version,
however, tells the story in the form of a musical, with a book written by Harvey Fierstein. Expect it to rock Chicago, with
tickets selling fast.
At heart, La Cage Aux Folles is a story about families. On one side is Georges and Albin, who are exuberant, loud personalities.
On the other are their prospective in-laws, who aren't exactly gay-friendly. Will the two families be able to reconcile their
differences? Grab some tickets early to get a good seat and find out.
