Lander's Center History
Located in Southaven, Mississippi, the Lander's Center has been bringing one great show
to the stage after another for more than a decade. Even though it hasn't been around all that long, it has become nothing
short of a staple of the local community thanks to the wide variety of events that it offers, from basketball and ice skating
to concerts and boxing matches that are sure to be the talk of the town leading up to show time.
First opened at the
turn of the millennium in 2000, Lander's Center has gone through a number of name changes, but still serves the singular purpose
of bringing high quality entertainment to the community. In between huge performers taking to the stage, hockey teams battling
it out, and intense boxing matches, Lander's Center also provides basic skills classes, youth hockey teams that also teach
how to skate, and of course the amazing Mid-South Fair! With a seating capacity of over 8,400 people, you can rest assured
that you'll be able to get a great seat at Lander's Center, giving you plenty of reasons to get off the couch and head out
to a night of entertainment that you won't soon forget.
Lander's Center Events/Teams
While the RiverKings
hockey team is the only sporting team to actually call the Lander's Center home, there's plenty of other sporting and entertaining
events that are constantly coming through. So no matter if you're in the mood for boxing, fairs, circuses, ice shows, and
everything in between, Lander's Center has what you need to have a great time. Though there are plenty of different options
out there for entertainment these days, there is nothing quite like actually making it out for a live concert or sporting
event that will have you buzzing long after it's all over. Once you're there in the stands, you'll be glad that you're not
anywhere else, as the live experience is still king no matter how addicted to your DVR you are.
suburb of Memphis, Tennessee, Southaven, Mississippi has a population of roughly 50,000, though this is far from a sleepy
southern town. One reason that it's far from that is because of the Lander's Center, which is always right in the middle of
one amazing show or another. Southaven brings some of the best traditions of the South together, which in this case also means
that this is a town that knows a thing or two about what great sports are supposed to look like. With the University of Mississippi
nearby, Southaven has become, you guessed it, a haven for day trips for lots of other cities and towns in the area, and you'll
understand why once you make it out to see it for yourself.

Lander's Center Trivia
Did you know that legendary
novelist John Grisham actually grew up in Southaven, Mississippi? Well, now you do, and as you probably already know, home
towns tend to be fairly important in the development of a prominent writer – something Samuel Clemens probably could
have told you something about before he changed his name to Mark Twain. Before Grisham became a household name for novels
like "The Pelican Brief," "The Rainmaker," "The Client" and "The Firm," all of which were made into hit movies, Grisham was
heavily influenced by the legal process in Southaven, Mississippi. From there, it was history, as Grisham ended up becoming
one of the most prominent legal fiction writers of all-time – something he probably never would have accomplished without
his start in Southaven, Mississippi.
And these days, one of the best places to go around Grisham's Southaven is the
Lander's Center, though that's definitely something you're going to figure out sitting at home wondering how the big event
is getting on.
