La Salle Explorers Basketball Schedule
The La Salle Explorers are ready to find some big victories at home this
season, and you can be there to see how they pull it off. La Salle basketball made a return to national prominence in a big
way at the end of the 2012-2013 season when they made a deep NCAA Tournament run going all the way from the First Four to
the Sweet Sixteen. The 2013-2014 season was a bit of a disappointment as the Explorers went 7-9 in the Atlantic 10 before
losing in the first round of the conference tournament to Saint Bonaventure. Tom Gola Arena offers one of the most electric
atmospheres in all of college hoops and there is arguably no better place to take in a basketball game. It is never easy making
your way through a tough A-10 schedule, but the Explorers have the talent and the drive to pull off some big wins in the conference
as they look to pad their resume to hear their name called on Selection Sunday. The Explorers are determined to have a turnaround
season and make a charge up the A-10 standings that will result in an NCAA Tournament berth.
The Explorers are ready
to play their best on December 3rd when they receive a visit from the Villanova Wildcats. The Wildcats were a very good squad
last season, and they're sure to be tough on the court yet again in 2014-15. This is a non-conference game that could give
the Explorers a boost in confidence if they can escape with the win, but they're going to have to be in point on the hardwood.
Villanova is sure to have some top athletes on the roster this season, and it's going to take team basketball to slow them
down. La Salle needs their fans to show up in big numbers for this contest, so get out to the arena.
La Salle will face
a tough Atlantic 10 foe on March 7th when the Dayton Flyers come to town. The Flyers always have a tough team, and they're
often competing for the top spot in the conference standings. La Salle is going to look to make a big statement by taking
down Dayton in front of their home fans, and it could give them some serious momentum heading into the conference tourney.
This is the final home game of the 2014-15 campaign for the Explorers, so the stands will be jammed with diehard fans. Be
there in the stands with them to cheer on the Explorers. There are some other great games at home leading up to this one as
well, so take a peek at the full schedule.
La Salle Explorers Basketball History
La Salle has a long and
proud history of college basketball which includes a National Championship in 1954 and back to back Final Four appearances
in '54 and '55. La Salle and Houston are the only two schools in all of college basketball to have two former players in the
top 25 of NCAA scoring. The basketball magazine Street & Smith ranked La Salle as number 53 in its list of the Greatest
Basketball Programs of All Time. La Salle has had three National Players of the Year: Michael Brooks, Lionel Simmons, and
Tom Gola. That total trails only Duke and Ohio State for most Players of the Year. Kobe Bryant's father Joe Bryant played
his college ball for the Explorers. It appeared as though La Salle was on the verge of a return to glory following their Sweet
Sixteen run in 2013 but took a step back last season and are determined to get back on track with an impressive run through
the A-10 in the 2014-2015 season.
When you get out to see a La Salle Explorers home game
you'll be treated to some first-rate hoops. The Explorers always have some top talent, and folks love to see great hoops played
in person. Make sure you get out to a game this season, and you're sure to be thrilled by the Explorers as they take on some
of the best teams in the country.
