Lee Fields Schedule

During his multi-dimensional 40+ year career, Lee Fields has shared the stage with soul and R&B icons like O.V. Wright, Little Royal, Darrell Banks, Kool and the Gang and Hip Huggers. Fields is recognized for "Bewildered" b/w "Tell Her I Love Her" and "Let's Talk It Over" b/w "She's a Love Maker." "Everybody Gonna Give Their Thing Away to Somebody (Sometime)" b/w "East Coast Rapper" was also another valued item. Let's Talk It Over, a full-length album, also graduated to become an authentic and treasured collectors' item.

For the better part of the '80s, Fields remained in the shadows, but made an extraordinary return in the '90s, premiering with Enough Is Enough. He peddled his brand of blues and soul music around the Southern circuit, decked out in over-the-top costumes, singing romantic tunes to audiences comprised mostly of females.

Lee Fields Background

Elmer "Lee" Fields got his start when he cranked out a string of singles for many small labels over 40 years ago. Fields thought very highly of the godfather of soul James Brown as reflected in his own image, persona and vocals. The resemblance was so strong that he was nicknamed "Little J.B." Although Fields never officially made the big time, his tracks went on to become coveted collectors' items. After a long-term break, Fields surfaced again in the '90s as a soul-blues artist. He often made the rounds on the Southern circuit, performing for audiences - mainly comprised of females. Fields managed to carve a niche during that era courtesy of sample-infatuated hip-hop artists and British rare-groove enthusiasts. Rejuvenated by his return to funk, reminiscent of James Brown, Fields paved the way for the movement billed as the "deep funk movement."
