Leftover Salmon Background
Salmon formed by accident back in 1989, but their fans will agree that it was the best accident to happen in the history of
music. When Vince Herman's band the Salmon Heads brought in some members of the Left Hand String Band to fill in empty slots,
the synergy between the various musicians was immediately evident. The two bands merged into one phenomenal band, and thus
became Leftover Salmon. The group became popular for their unique fusion of bluegrass, country, rock, and Cajun, and their
funky sound became a huge hit in the jam band scene.
Leftover Salmon scored a record deal with Hollywood Records in
the mid-1990s, after accumulating an extremely devout and adoring fan base. The band continued to release awesome and unique
tunes for the next several years, and of course they continued to tour extensively, which endeared them further to the hearts
of their loyal fan base. In 2002, the band experienced a significant loss when Mark Vann died of cancer. A couple of years
later, the band went on hiatus.
In 2007, Leftover Salmon returned as a group and played several high-profile performances,
including one at the High Sierra Music Festival in Quincy and the All Good Festival in West Virginia. For the next several
years, the band played a handful of shows off and on, but didn't confirm their full-time reunion. Finally, in 2012, Leftover
Salmon released a new album – the first one since they went on hiatus in 2004. Leftover Salmon's official reunion thrilled
their fans and sparked excitement in the jam band scene. Just a couple of years after their official reunion, Leftover Salmon
is gearing up for another round of highly anticipated shows. As this awesome and unique country jam band steps out on stage

Leftover Salmon's lineup changed often throughout the years, but "the Big Three" – Vince Herman,
Mark Vann, and Drew Emmitt – remained at the core of the band. Unfortunately, Vann's death left just Emmitt and Herman
at the heart of Leftover Salmon.
