Lightning Bolt formed in 1995 at the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence. Made up of drummer Brian Chippendale, bassist Brian Gibson and singer Hisham Broocha, they started making some of the most boundary-pushing rock being heard anywhere. Though you can readily assume there was heavy helping of punk and metal in their early record collections, they also cite more experimental artists like Phillip Glass and Sun Ra as major influences on the band's sound.
Though Lightning Bolt was first based out of Providence, they are taking their very loud music on tour with them, so be prepared to get your eardrums blown when they get to a venue in your town. Their shows are an experience unlike anything out there.
