        Little Shop of Horrors premiered in 1982 as an adaptation of The Little Shop of Horrors film, and is composed by Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman. The play is regularly and internationally recreated and is coming to Chicago. The musical premiered on May 6, 1982 at the WPA Theatre and it opened off- Broadway at the Orpheum Theatre on July 27, 1982. Little Shop of Horrors has won several awards including the 1982-1983 New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical, a Drama Desk Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award and the London Evening Standard Award for Best Musical.
