Named after the infamous young woman who killed her parents with an axe in the 1890s, Lizzy Borden formed in 1984, primed to ride the crest of glam-metal after Motley Crue’s Shout at the Devil established its sound in 1983. The band’s frontman shared the name of his band, and they released six records throughout the ‘80s, reforming in the ‘00s and releasing albums more sparingly.
Though they were largely swallowed up by the sea of glam-metal bands that took over the rock charts in the ‘80s, Lizzy Borden received the recognition they deserved from a highly loyal fanbase to whom their theatrical performances appealed to.
