Angels Update – Week of July 4

With one of the best collections of talent in the league, the Angels are starting to look like the team that many around the league thought they would be heading into the start of the season, putting them right in the thick of the race for the A.L. West. Though the A's clearly look like a team to be reckoned with as well, the Angels are showing some major signs this season both offensively and on the mound, giving them the type balance that makes them a real threat to win it all. The Angels will be looking to end the first half of the season on a high note, giving their fans some thrills heading into the All-Star break and a sneak preview of things to come down the home stretch.

Unsurprisingly, the Angels have been really putting pressure on opposing pitching staffs throughout the league, with one of the top hitting teams in the league and one of the more balanced rosters you're going to see. Of course, having Mike Trout mash near the top of the order is something that every team would love to have, as the superstar centerfielder is putting up the type of season that will grab him some MVP votes. Trout is near the top of the league in just about every major offensive category and is also getting on base at a clip above.400, which is a great sign for a young hitter trying to do more than just hit home runs.

Also getting into the mix have been both Albert Pujols and Josh Hamilton, providing one of the best three-batter stretches in a lineup in the entire league. With Garrett Richards giving a major spark in the rotation and guys like C.J. Wilson and Jered Weaver having solid seasons as well, the Angels have the right balance of starting pitching and batting to do some major damage from now through the end of the regular season.

Los Angeles Angels 2014 Schedule

After not quite putting it all together in 2013, the Angels are back with another very talented team and hopes of making a big move up the divisional standings, though that's never exactly an easy task considering they have to go up against a bevy of powerhouses in the A.L. West. The Angels have their eyes on the prize, and the prize in the American League West crown, and their well-balanced team gives fans plenty of hope that they can make it happen. To earn it the Angels have to play well throughout the regular season, and they have a multitude of tough matchups at home at Angel Stadium. Angel fans are notoriously loyal and regularly show up to cheer on their favorite ball club, making each and every one of their home games something to behold. But even though the home games are great, seeing a road game can be just as exciting, as you'll end up getting a chance to watch your favorite team from a completely different level.

Of course, the Angels will definitely look to take their game up a notch when the Oakland Athletics come to town this season. The A's were able to win the American League West last season, so the Angels know this team means business every time they hit the field. The Angels look to have a superior talent level, though, and that should be enough to earn some big victories at home this season. Either way, when the A's come to town you can expect that the stands at Angel Stadium will be packed with screaming fans that will be looking to see the Angels down the A's.

Another American League West team that the Angels could have trouble with is the Texas Rangers. This team finished one spot ahead of the Halos in the division in 2013, and Los Angeles will surely be looking to leapfrog Texas this time around. Texas has some very good pitching and a lineup that is nothing to scoff at, so the Halos had better be ready to give it everything they've got when the Rangers come into Anaheim this season. The Angels will need the support of their fans no matter what team they're facing, as a good home crowd can cheer their team onto victory when they really need the boost. With so many different options on the schedule, there's sure to be something for everybody as the Angels look to put together another season sure to be absolutely loaded with twists, turns and nail-biting moments that you'll be talking about long after the final pitch.

Los Angeles Angels Team Info

The Los Angeles Angels play in the American League West division of Major League Baseball, a division that also features the Oakland Athletics, Texas Rangers, Seattle Mariners and Houston Astros. The Angels were able to finish third in the A.L. West last season, but that's not enough to satisfy an organization that has won the division title many times over the course of history. The Halos will need to play more consistent baseball in 2014 if they're going to climb the ladder of the A.L. West and wind up on top of the division. This team certainly has enough talent to make it happen, so it's all a matter of executing. The Angels know they have the lineup to do some major damage in the American League this season, and are hoping that they've got enough pitching to hold opposing hitters at bay. Of course, it helps that they have Jered Weaver on the bump and guys like Mike Trout and Albert Pujols in the batter's box, giving them a chance to win every single time they take to the diamond.

The MLB Experience

Major League Baseball showcases baseball's elite players on a regular basis, giving fans around the country the chance to see some of the most skilled athletes in the world live and in person. Being there in the stands is the only way to see the game played, as you'll pick up on all the little nuances of the game much easier than if you catch the game on TV from your living room. Baseball is a simply game to learn, but there is more to it than meets the eye, and that's just one thing that makes the sport so great. Be there this season when the Angels hit the field and hear the crack of the bat before the baseball flies into the outfield seats. This is just one of those sports that can't be contained by your fancy flatscreen, and you'll see that loud and clear if you head out to see the Angels do their thing this season.

Los Angeles Angels History

The Los Angeles Angels were founded in 1961. The team was renamed the California Angels in 1965 before switching to the Anaheim Angels in 1997. In 2004, the team decided on a combination of two previous names and settled on the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The team won their only World Series title in 2002, which was their only appearance to date on baseball's biggest stage. They've also had plenty of great players over the years, including Vladimir Guerrero, Nolan Ryan, Rod Carew, Garrett Anderson and plenty of others, making for a tradition of bringing some of the best ballplayers in the world to town.

Los Angeles Angels Trivia

Watching a game surrounded by fellow fans makes for a great experience, and fans of the Angels are about as passionate as it gets. Make sure to get out toe Angel Stadium this season and you can see these fans cheer the Halos on to victory, though road games also give you a chance to see the big game the way it was meant to be seen – in the stands with thousands of other baseball fans.
