Los Angeles Lakers Schedule in 2014-15

The Los Angeles Lakers are ready to hit the court for a big season of great games in 2014-15. Los Angeles is coming off a disappointing 2013-14 season in which they failed to make the postseason for the first time in years. Star player Kobe Bryant was only able to play a handful of games last season due to injury, which drastically diminished the team's chances of reaching the playoffs. The Lakers will look to improve in 2014-15, but first have a lot of work to do this offseason, as they only have a few players under contract heading into the summer of 2014. Los Angeles has a lot of cap space that they are going to likely use on signing some big-name players to team up with Bryant. There are some marquee free agents that should hit the market this season, and Los Angeles is always an attractive destination for players.

The Lakers also have the seventh pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, expected to be one of the best drafts in recent memory. The Lakers don't often have such a high pick, as they usually don't lose many games, so they have an opportunity to get a quality young player on a cheap rookie contract. Los Angeles likely wants a player that can come in and contribute right away, and there should be some solid options on the board when the team picks. Rumors have connected the team to Kentucky power forward Julius Randle, who could be capable of coming in and starting for the Lakers from day one. Randle was a double-double machine in college, and could be a great addition for the Lakers. Another player the Lakers could have significant interest in is point guard Marcus Smart. While Steve Nash is still on the roster, Smart is a hard-nosed, strong guard that is ready to defend NBA players right away and a guy that has been praised for his leadership. Other potential options include Aaron Gordon, Noah Vonleh and Dante Exum. The Lakers should acquire a good, young player on draft night.

The Lakers will be looking forward to the return of Kobe to the court, as will the fans that missed seeing this all-time great Laker on the floor last season. They're going to have to play well all season long to make the playoffs in such a competitive conference, but they'll be giving it everything they've got on a nightly basis.
