        Midfielders Shannon Boxx, Stephanie Cox and Aly Wagner were the first three members of Los Angeles Sol to join the newly-minted women’s pro soccer team when the WPS league announced its arrival in 2007, and Los Angeles Sol was one of the first teams announced to join WPS, the highest level of women’s professional soccer in North America. 2009 is the first season to host games for the seven teams in the WPS.
