About the Band
What started as a couple of high school friends who
grew up in East Los Angeles and shared a love for Top 40 hits has become one of the biggest and most influential rock bands
of the last three decades. Los Lobos made a name for themselves covering the hits of Richie Valens like La Bamba and Come
On, Let's Go, but what had made them an enduring rock band is their originality and ability to write and perform many different
music genres. Though they had already released three albums, it was their major label debut How With the Wolf Survive? in
1984 that garnered them the critical and fan acclaim that they had richly deserved. The album was on almost everyone's list
of best albums of the decade. Their mainstream success came hard and fast with their appearance on the beloved La Bamba soundtrack
in 1987, helping the soundtrack go platinum. Since then, they have continued to release successful albums and appear on soundtracks
to such films as Desperado, Nacho Libre and for HBO's The Sopranos.
Los Lobos got their start
as a wedding band playing in their native East Los Angeles, however word of their incredible performances spread and they
were able to secure record contracts and play bigger shows all over the world. While they had achieved success as a nice act,
it was their inclusion on the soundtrack for the movie La Bamba that really brought Los Lobos mainstream success. On the soundtrack
the band covered La Bamba and Come On Let's Go by Ritchie Valens and scored big hits which brought the band crossover success.
You have been waiting for months if not years for this night to come and finally as the lights
lower you begin to see Los Lobos taking the stage. The crowd erupts in applause as the band approaches their instruments.
A hush falls over the crowd as Los Lobos thanks them and launch into a fan favorite from one of their albums like How Will
the Wolf Survive?, The Neighborhood, Colossal Head, This Time, or The Ride. The crowd once again erupts and sings and dances
along to hits throughout the night. Always one to surprise the crowd, perhaps Los Lobos sprinkles in some new songs throughout
the set, or decides to play covers of traditional folk songs. This is your chance to see a true international superstar band
and legend of the genre, and Los Lobos definitely exceeds expectations. Los Lobos has an ability to connect with the audience
and seduce with their music that is not always found in modern pop music. Do not miss the chance to see Los Lobos when they
hit your town.
The band originally called themselves Los Lobos del Este (de Los Angeles) which
was a play on the name of another band Los Lobos del Norte and also a reference to the fact that they were a band from East
Los Angeles. The band quickly shortened their name to simply Los Lobos as a matter of convenience.
