About Lou Gramm
Gramm showed an interest in music at a young age, and when he was a teen, he began playing and singing in bands in the local
Rochester area where he lived. However, he got his big break when he was invited by guitarist Mick Jones to audition for a
lead singer position in his band. Lou Gramm got the gig as lead singer of the band Trigger, which later was renamed Foreigner.
With Lou Gramm's help, Foreigner shot to remarkable fame in the 70s and 80s, and they became one of the biggest rock bands
at the time. In addition to serving as the lead vocalist, Gramm also co-wrote many of Foreigner's songs. Their self-titled
debut album was released in 1977, and it reached number 4 on the Billboard 200. The album included many of their famous hit
songs, like "Cold as Ice," "Feels Like the First Time," and "Long, Long Way From Home," all of which charted well. Foreigner
followed up with their next album, "Double Vision," which produced the hits "Hot Blooded" and the album's title track.
this point, Foreigner was unstoppable, and they released their third album to praise from critics and fans. "Head Games,"
their third studio album, charted at number 5 on the Pop Albums chart, and it went on to sell over 5 million copies in the
United States alone. Having helped Foreigner achieve superstar status, Lou Gramm was ready to release his debut solo album,
"Ready or Not," in 1987. The album reached number 27 on the charts, and produced the single, "Midnight Blue," which topped
the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart. He released his second solo album "Long Hard Look" in 1989, which included songs like
"Just Between You and Me" and "True Blue Love." Lou Gramm also released a Christian rock album under the moniker the Lou Gramm
Band, and he continues to tour regularly, performing Foreigner hits and his own solo work.
Lou Gramm's Breakthrough
When Foreigner's debut album was released, Lou Gramm became an instant sensation. His powerful vocals and the
band's hard-rock sound helped them become one of the biggest bands of the time. Their self-titled debut album has been certified
several times platinum, and to date, they have sold over 80 million records worldwide. In fact, they were the first band since
the Beatles to have their first eight singles reach the Billboard Top 20. Because of Foreigner's massive success, Lou Gramm
was able to embark on a solo career as well, and he subsequently released several solo albums that further demonstrate his
