M83's spacey electronica is perfectly suited to its name, taken from the distant spiral galaxy Messier 83. Anthony Gonzalez, who is behind the band's sound, has a brand new record called Hurry Up, We're Dreaming. Gonzalez debuted it with a single, "Midnight City," which attracted lots of attention online. M83 released its first record in 2001, revealing a sound that was heavily indebted to the dream-pop acts of the '80s and '90s. The band started to find real traction with their third release, Before the Dawn Heals Us, which saw them develop a strong following. In 2008, M83 issued Saturdays = Youth, an album that blended '80s pop and teenage angst into a delicious, ethereal swirl. Their latest record is sure to show the band developing in new and exciting ways.
