Ben Haggerty grew up in Seattle, Washington, influenced
by the hip-hop music of Digital Underground. He started penning his own lyrics at 14, and at this age, his friends nicknamed
him Mocklimore. In high school, he started to profoundly reflect on how race affected where individuals were able to work
and live. When he started to rap, he would take in the music of East Coast underground hip-hop artists like Aceyalone, Living
Legends, Wu-Tang Clan and Freestyle Fellowship.
He went on to go to school at the Evergreen State College in Olympia,
Washington, and in the year 2000, he put out an EP called Open Your Eyes under the name of Professor Macklemore. His full-length
premiere album came in 2005, dubbed The Language of My World.
Like many young artists, Macklemore was sucked in by the
allure of drugs and went into a rehab program in 2008. Before taking steps to become sober, Macklemore was introduced to Ryan
Lewis, producer and DJ. The two collaborated and released the Vs. Redux EP in 2010. The two chose to take a more unconventional
route and worked on their full-length debut album on their own. The Heist was released in the fall of 2012 as a result of
their own hard work and grassroots marketing efforts.
The Heist's lead single, Thrift Shop, landed at the top of the
Billboard Hot 100 chart. Sales eventually hit a high note as well with over six million downloads! Their sophomore single,
Can't Hold Us, additionally climbed to No. 1 on the Hot 100 chart. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis became the first duo of all time
to have their first two singles hit the peak of the pop charts.
Their innovation and original ideas have resonated well
with audiences as reflected in the millions of views on YouTube.
So if you've never actually heard Macklemore live and
in person, there has never been a better time to change that. Catch him on tour while tickets are still available!
Macklemore Hit Albums
In 2000, Macklemore recorded Open Your Eyes under the moniker of Professor Macklemore.

Four years later, he came out with The Unplanned Mixtape. And in 2010,
he developed the VS. Redux EP. MackleMore drew on his experience with substance abuseto generate the song, Otherside. Macklemore
and longtime friend and collaborator Ryan Lewis released The Heist in 2012, which includes previously released singles: Can't
Hold Us, Wing$ My Oh My, and Make the Money.
Can't Hold Us was used in a UK and Ireland
Miller beer advertisement in June 2012, adding to his brand recognition in Europe. The Heist, climbed to No. 1 on U.S. iTunes
