Kicking Off the Maple Leaf Monster Jam
Fantastic feats of driving and wrecks alike are all a part of Monster Jam.
Officially, each event features judged competitions that eventually lead up to the end of the season Monster Jam World Finals
at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas, March 20th through 22nd. Each event on the calendar involves competition aspects, allowing
the drivers to really show off not only their abilities behind the wheel, but also what their super trucks are capable of.
There is a racing competition where speed and agility matter most, then the freestyle competition where anything goes and
death-defying stunts are commonplace.
History of Monster Jam
Many are tabbing 2014 as the year of Team Grave
Digger, which includes monster trucks Grave Digger, Grave Digger the Legend and Son-uva Digger. Perhaps no other name is bigger
in the 32-year history of monster trucks than Grave Digger, but in 2014, the team is truly putting together a season for the
ages. Grave Digger driver Dennis Anderson has been dominating, taking 13 round races south of the border already. Son-uva
Digger driver Ryan Anderson, Dennis' son, has won 12 races, losing just three times. Two of Ryan's losses came at the hands
of his father, highlighting their dominance.
Monster Jam Trivia
Did you know that Grave Digger has been on the
Monster Jam scene for over 30 years? The first incarnation was a mud bogger, until it was converted to a monster truck in
1986. Dennis Anderson has always been behind the wheel of Monster Jam's most iconic truck, which started competing on the
TNT Motorsports tour against other legendary trucks such as Big Foot.
The tour started
on Saturday, January 18th and Sunday, January 19th at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario. Son-uva Digger was the big winner
in Toronto, capturing first in the Saturday evening racing competition and the Sunday afternoon freestyle competition. Grave
Digger captured the Sunday afternoon race, with Max D taking home the top spot in the Saturday night freestyle portion. Team
USA also captured an opening Maple Leaf tour win in the Quad Wars over Team Canada on Saturday. Team Canada extracted an amount
of revenge against Team USA on Sunday.
