Marcus Amphitheater/Summerfest Trivia
Did
you know that Marcus Amphitheater was built as a response to an enormous Huey Lewis and the News concert?
In 1984, 30,000
fans showed up at the current site for a Huey Lewis and the News concert – even though it was meant to hold only 15,000.
Clearly more room was needed, and a few years later the Marcus Amphitheater was opened to help usher in a new era of live
music around Milwaukee.
Marcus Amphitheater/Summerfest Experience
We all know that you can just put on
your head phones, or maybe just crank your sound system in your car, but you're way off if you think you're going to connect
with a band because you have sick bass and some solid acoustics. It's being along the rest of the fans that love a band just
as much as you do where you'll get a completely different type of experience, making the live-music atmosphere something that
you're just not going to duplicate anywhere else. When your favorite musician breaks out your favorite ballad, you'll see
loud and clear what you've been missing by bumping tunes on your sound system at home.
