About Mariachi Vargas

The Mexican folk ensemble, Mariachi Vargas, comes from a long line of history that spans over 100 years. The music includes a number of instruments like harps, guitars, trumpets, violins, guitarrons and vihuelas. Mariachi Vargas is by far the best of the best touring mariachi bands and a good opportunity to experience a sound that represents not only a rich musical history but also a the colorful culture of Mexico. The music is one that will make it difficult for even the biggest wallflower to sit still, as the folk music is meant to get you dancing. Mariachi Vargas was started in 1897 and has gone through various iterations of members and talent that have continued to pass along the mariachi torch to the next generation. What is fascinating is that the history and culture of mariachi is passed down through the generations in such a fantastical way. It is impressive to think that this process dates back to the 19th century. It certainly is an interesting experience to watch Mariachi Vargas live when one considers how it originated and where it may be in another 200 years.

Mariachi Vargas Breakthrough

Mariachi music is traditional Mexican folk music so it is challenging to determine when exactly there was a breakthrough for something so culturally rich and tied to the past, present and future of a country. What is significant is that Mariachi Vargas has not lost steam, having started in the 19th century. It successfully continues to share the music with new generations that become the next band of Mariachi Vargas. Another important breakthrough is that Mariachi Vargas is not only popular in its country of origin, it is also popular in the United States where the band is presently touring. Due to the nature of Mariachi Vargas and its history; there is an incredibly "discography" of well-known mariachi songs. Between 1937 and 2009, Mariachi Vargas has produced about 50 recordings and other musicians have incorporated the band into their own albums.

Mariachi Vargas Live Show Experience

It does not get any better than seeing Mariachi Vargas play live. It is definitely better to see it play live than on television or over the radio. There is an enthusiasm and tangible excitement that will be missed if not heard live. It is also a great opportunity to learn Latin-inspired dance moves from one's neighbor at the concert. The crowd is full of fans of mariachi that love to dance, so it won't be long before you are joining along with everyone else, feeling a strong sense of community with a big smile on your face. In many ways, Mariachi Vargas is the one and only band that enables audiences to experience all there is to experience about mariachi music. It is not one to miss out on Mariachi Vargas highly energized performance. The musicianship is incredible, as many of the members have been playing mariachi for most of their lives. Mariachi Vargas tours throughout the world and now is the time to catch a concert as they are touring through the United States. It won't be long before they are back on the world stage revisiting places like Japan, Spain, Czech Republic, France and more (especially in Latin America).
