Marilyn Manson Background

Born Brian Hugh Warner, this metal rocker chose his stage name based on two cultural icons: Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson. Warner always had a love for music, particularly for metal, and so after high school, Warner took advantage of his studies in journalism and started writing for 25th Parallel, a music magazine. While he began his foray into the world of music as a writer, he would soon become one of the best known stars in the rock world. Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails discovered Manson's band, and he signed the gothic rock group to his record label, Nothing. Along with the record deal, Marilyn Manson also scored a touring spot alongside Nine Inch Nails during its 1994 tour, where Manson performed to thousands of new fans over the course of the tour. This gave Manson a taste of major success, and he achieved even more success when he released his debut album, Portrait of an American Family. Thanks to this album and the Nine Inch Nails tour, Marilyn Manson had already gained a cult following—one that would only continue to grow throughout the years.

In 1995, Marilyn Manson released the hit EP, Smells Like Children, which spawned one of his biggest hits to date, a cover of the Eurythmics song, "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of These)". This cover became so popular that it eventually helped Smells Like Children attain platinum certification. His second full-length album, Antichrist Superstar, was a smash success, debuting at number three on the Billboard music charts. Over the years, Manson just continued to crank out one hit album after another, and he even adopted an alter-ego called Omega, who was an androgynous space alien/glam rocker. No matter where Manson performed, he attracted countless excited fans to his shows, as well as numerous protestors. Because of his rumored reputation for being a follower of the Church of Satan, his shows are frequently protested and boycotted, yet that has never hindered his success. Time and time again, the iconic Marilyn Manson steps out on stage to put on a knockout show, filled with wildly entertaining and shocking theatrics.

With four Grammy nominations under his belt and an unstoppable legacy, this goth rocker has undoubtedly earned his fame and fortune. Every single show of his earns rave reviews, and now you can see the legendary Marilyn Manson perform live on stage at one of his upcoming shows!
