Marquette Golden Eagles Basketball Schedule in 2014-15

The Marquette Golden Eagles are ready to take flight this season and host some of the best teams in the sport of college basketball on their home floor. The Golden Eagles have a number of talented players that are looking to make their mark on the conference and the nation. The Eagles play in the Big East Conference, one of the toughest and most competitive leagues in college hoops. Every season there are a multitude of top teams in the Big East, making the road to the top of the standings a difficult one. The Golden Eagles were able to play pretty well in 2013-14, notching a 17-15 overall record. The team was able to post a.500 record against Big East opponents, but they're going to have to improve on that mark this season if they're going to make a run for the top of the standings.

The Golden Eagles will certainly be looking forward to taking on the Villanova Wildcats this season, as they're one of the best teams in the Big East. Villa nova was able to finish atop the conference standings in 2013-14, so the Eagles would love to take them down and show the rest of the conference that they're a force to be reckoned with this season. Other top teams like the Georgetown Hoyas and Providence Friars will take to the court at the BMO Harris Bradley Center this season, and fans will poour into the stands to see the Eagles in action. There are some fantastic matchups coming this season, so take a look at the full schedule to see when each team arrives. You can be there in the stands for all the best games this season.

Marquette Golden Eagles Basketball History

The Marquette Golden Eagles first took to the court back in 1916 and they posted a winning record in their first season, setting the tone for this program to grow into a quality one that regularly competes at a high level. The Golden Eagles have posted some great seasons over the years, but none stand out like the 1977 campaign when Marquette was able to win the NCAA Tournament. This program has made tons of appearances in the Big Dance, and have reached the Sweet Sixteen more than 15 times. They've even reached the Final Four three times, most recently in 2003. The Eagles have had some fantastic players come through the ranks over the years, but perhaps the most famous one is Dwyane Wade, who went on to star in the National Basketball Association.

The Golden Eagles call the Big East Conference home, though the landscape of this league has changed a lot in recent years. Conference realignment has affected nearly every conference in the country, but there has probably not been any conference more changed than the Big East. The conference has annually been one of the top college basketball conferences in the country and remains an incredibly tough league. Traditional powerhouses like Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Louisville and others may have left, but the conference still has plenty of quality college hoops teams. There are currently ten teams in the Big East: Butler, Creighton, DePaul, Georgetown, Marquette, Providence, St. John's, Seton Hall, Villanova, and Xavier. All of the schools except for Butler are Catholic universities, and each and every one of them have a strong basketball tradition with a history of deep runs in the NCAA Tournament.

Fan Experience

Attending a big time college basketball game is an experience like no other. Featuring some of the best student athletes in the world along with some of the most passionate fans in all of sports, the games have an atmosphere that is unrivaled. When you set foot into BMO Harris Bradley Center for a Marquette Golden Eagles home basketball game this will all be clear. As the teams set up for opening tip off the fans stand up and vociferously cheer for their alma mater and hometown favorites. The game continues full of back and forth action, big time shots, and clutch defensive stops. Before you know it the clock is winding down in the second half and the two sides are wrapped up in yet another tight contest. Your palms get sweaty with each trip down the floor and each time a player from your favorite team lets loose a shot you hold your breath until the ball tickles the twine. This continues until the final buzzer when the Golden Eagles' side erupts after another big win and their fans flow out of the arena in jubilation.

Marquette Basketball Fans

Golden Eagles fans love to come out to the arena to support their team, and they always show up in huge numbers for a great rivalry game. Marquette has a huge rivalry with the University of Wisconsin in all sports and basketball games between the two schools are especially heated. In past seasons playing in the Big East, Marquette developed rivalries with Louisville, Notre Dame, Pittsburgh, and DePaul. Many of those schools are no longer in the Big East, but you can be sure if they should meet one another in preseason or postseason tournaments the games will be just as thrilling as ever. Of course, as teams continue playing against one another in the new Big East there will surely be new rivalries that develop as the teams become more and more familiar with one another. Fans are always ready to support the Golden Eagles when they need it most, so join them in the stands this season and have an impact on the game yourself.
