Husband and wife duo Kori Gardner and Jason Hammell formed Mates of State in 1997 after performing in the Kansas’s music city Lawrence. With Omnibus Records their first EP appeared in 1999 as a split with Fighter D and after relocating to San Francisco the duo started recording several more pieces. Before marrying in 2001, Mates of State toured with Superdrag, the Anniversary and Beulah and returned to the studio for subsequent albums, including 2002’s Our Constant Concern and 2008’s Re-Arrange Us.
Indie pop-rock group Mates of State has been recording together since the late ‘90s when they first met in the state of Kansas. Since signing with Omnibus Records the group has seen years of success, including a few Billboard chart topping albums, like 2006’s Bring it Back, which reached the Top Heatseekers and Top Independent Albums chart and 2008’s Re-Arrange Us, which peaked at the sixth position on Top Heatseekers!
